Josh is an avid wheelchair basketball player and track competitor. At the University of Illinois he was co-captain of the wheelchair basketball team. In 2001 he was a member of the under-23 USA basketball national team and won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Brazil. In 2005 Josh was a member as well as co-captain of the team and won gold at the Championships held in England. He excelled to the USA Men's National Basketball Team in 2006 and won silver in the IWBF World Championships in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His hard work and dedication lead to a gold medal in 2007 at the Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Along with basketball, Josh is a champion wheelchair racer. He races annually in the Chicago Marathon, in which he won first place in 2003, 2004 and 2006. He has been a member of the USA Wheelchair Racing Team since 2004 and won a bronze medal in the 100m and 400m at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. Josh also won gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m, and silver in the 4x100m at the 2006 IPC World Championships in Assen, The Netherlands. And in 2008 at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China Josh won a gold medal in the 100m T53 and a silver medal in the 800m T53.
